More than 1 in 4 older adults fall each year.  Falls are the leading cause of injury and death for adults ages 65 years and older. These falls are common, costly, and occur during routine activities.  FALLS in the older adult ARE PREVENTABLE and NOT A NORMAL PART OF AGING.  Fall risk can be predicted by looking at several risk factors.  Why wait for a fall to know your risk?  The American Geriatric Society and the American Physical Therapy Association advocate for an annual Comprehensive Fall Risk Assessment for older adults.  As a Medicare beneficiary, you are entitled to this assessment as part of your benefit.
